Athletic Theraphy

Athletic Therapy is a profession that is devoted to the health care of the physically active individual. Athletic Therapists provide a variety of services that assist active people who have sustained or could sustain an injury.

The scope of practice of a Certified Athletic Therapist includes the prevention, immediate on-field care, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries.

A Certified Athletic Therapist:

• Assesses injuries and conditions to find and treat the cause of injury
• Utilizes contemporary rehabilitative techniques, therapeutic modalities and soft tissue mobilization to promote an environment conducive to optimal healing
• Develops physical reconditioning programs, and provides supportive strapping procedures in preparing the individual for safe reintegration into an active lifestyle

An Athletic Therapist is a certified member of the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association, and is qualified to use the letters CAT(C) after their name.
